Description This course teaches an introduction to the constituent elements of Web pages. This includes the fundamental HTML elements, their attributes, and the style properties. The other important part of the course is to provide an introduction to JavaScript programming and Dynamic HTML. Students will be required to create a website and maintain it on a public web server (account supplied by instructor).
Content Based primarily on course notes. The textbook is a "second opinion." Topics include:
  • Basic HTML tags including hyperlinks
  • Organizational elements: lists, tables
  • Graphical images
  • CSS (Cascading Style Sheets): properties and rules
  • Basic programming concepts in JavaScript
  • Control structures: if/if-else. Functions.
  • Introduction to DHTML (controlling HTML with JavaScript)
  • Programming form elements
Grading
70% quizzes       25%   website project
5% attendance and class participation
Your website project should be done primarily by you. Please read the policy on academic honesty.

Expectations
You are expected to behave in a responsible manner during class:
  • Arrive on time and stay in your seat the whole class time unless you give prior notification to the instructor. In particular, go to the bathroom before class!
  • No laptops or other distracting electronic devices during class unless approved by instructor.
  • If you miss a test or quiz, contact me that day and provide a valid reason for missing.
  • Attend most classes. Those who miss more than 10 (valid or other) classes are subject to grade deterioration.
