The WCU Computer Science Club has invited the founders of the multi-million dollar company DuckDuckGo to give a TalkTalkTo students and faculty. DuckDuckGo is a search engine company that specializes in user privacy protection.

The Computer Science Department is home of the Information Security Center (ISC) whose efforts have established West Chester University as a Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance (Security) Education. The ISC, made up of most of the Computer Science faculty, offers courseware which has been certified by the NSA to meet standards NSTISSI-4011 (Standard for Information Systems Security) and NSTISSI-4013 (Standard For System Administrators) of the National Training Standards for Information Systems Security Professionals.

The Computer Science Department is also home of the Internet Safety, Ethics Education and Knowledge (ISEEK) Institute dedicated to the understanding of social implications of Internet technologies.

The Computer Science Department is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Computer and Information Science Educators (PACISE).
